Males and females of this species can vary a lot within the same population especially the size of the white spots on the forewing and the intensity of the bright markings on the hindwing - Alpes maritimes (France) - 27/06/2016		2] same specimen as 1]. In this species, the underside ground colour is generally uniform, with poor contrast. The basal spot in S7 (blue arrow) is usually rounded or oval and its outline does not come into contact with the veins. The discal S4/S5 spot (red arrow) is usually, but not always, rectangular and its internal edge is most often straight.
